Please reach us at alison@nourish-bodyandmind.com if you cannot
find an answer to your question.
Head over to the 'Services' page to learn more about what Nourish - and Mind specializes in, and see a few examples of topics we might cover!
That being said - the time that you book is yours entirely. We can talk about the goals we have established, or what's bothering you that day / week. It is truly up to you.
Nourish - Body and Mind is a nutrition counseling practice is dedicated to the treatment and care of humans with diagnosed eating disorders and disordered eating patterns. That being said, Nourish - Body and Mind also offers HAES aligned, trauma-informed, gender-affirming nutrition counseling on other health concerns and diagnoses, including: PCOS, Diabetes, Food Allergies, and much more. We work with people of all genders, ages 16 and up!
Nourish - Body and Mind is currently a private pay, out-of-network provider, which means we do not accept insurance at this time.
We can, however, provide superbills upon request. This is a PDF form that you can submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement, as some insurance plans offer out-of-network benefits. If you have questions about your out-of-network benefits, please contact your insurance company directly. Contact information regarding benefits can be found on your insurance card, usually listed on the back as a phone number for "member services" or "customer support." Coverage varies between plans.
If you are interested, you can contact your insurance company prior to your first visit to better understand your out-of-network benefits (if applicable). This is the patient's responsibility!
Here are some suggested questions:
As a reminder, you (the client) are responsible for submitting your superbills to your insurance, and navigating any claim denial or resolution issues.
Initial & Follow-up 50 minute sessions are $150. Learn more about sliding scale sessions below.
Our electronic medical record (EMR), Simple Practice handles all of this. You will receive a confidential, secure credit card form to complete along with all of your other onboarding paperwork when your first full appointment is booked.
We accept credit/debit cards, HSA & FSA cards. A credit/debit card on file is required to secure appointments. Payment is due from you at the time of service.
Nourish - Body and Mind is an entirely virtual private practice. This means that we can see clients anywhere in the states of Florida AND Georgia (where we are actively licensed), as well as some other states (this is dependent on licensure laws for Registered Dietitians).
This allows us to see you from the comfort of your space - and offers more flexibility for timing, meal support sessions and more! Come as you are - in pajamas, from your couch, wherever you are most comfortable. All I ask is that you are able to be focused on our session during our shared time, with as few distractions as possible (AKA no driving during session - unless we arrange to do a hands-free phone call sesh instead!).
Sessions are 50-minutes in length, but can be adjusted if necessary. We can meet as frequently as twice a week, or as infrequently as once a month. Most clients start off with once a week sessions, and then switch to every other week sessions once they feel ready!
No. All nutrition counseling is provided through a weight neutral, HAES-aligned approach. Period. Nourish - Body and Mind does NOT offer weight - loss services or guidance. When weight loss is recommended to address a medical condition, much of a person's health "picture" is disregarded (Ask your doctor: "What recommendations would be made to someone in a smaller body with the same health condition?").
Instead, let's look at your health through a multi-faceted lens to evaluate and support your physical, emotional and mental health. This includes examining traditional medical "values" like laboratory work, blood pressure, heart rate as well as non-traditional markers like sleep quality and energy levels, mobility and flexibility, frequency of binge / restrict /purge episodes and much more.
Diets do not and have not ever worked - for you, or anyone else. Dieting (which is considered behaviorally as disordered eating), intentional weight loss and weight cycling are actually linked with a higher prevalence of eating disorders, cardiovascular and renal disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, chronic inflammation, certain types of cancer and even death. Check out these amazing evidenced- based sources for more:
That being said - I fully understand and empathize with the desire to change your body. Our world is not kind to human bodies. I feel comfortable helping clients resolve ambivalence around their body, and process the feelings and thoughts that come with the urge to lose weight or begin dieting again. I know this cycle is excruciating... and I am here to "sit in the suck" with you so you don't have to go through it alone.
Nourish - Body and Mind utilizes Simple Practice - a HIPAA compliant electronic medical record software system that allows us to schedule, bill, document and communicate with clients all in one place. All onboarding paperwork (including but not limited to: practice policies, good faith estimate, notice of privacy practices, consent for Telehealth consultation, informed consent for nutrition services, release of information, confidential credit card form and more!) MUST be completed 48 hours prior to session, otherwise the session will be cancelled.
I wish there was a perfect answer to this one... Learning how to re-connect with your body and unlearn diet culture is HARD. It takes time, patience and practice. While arduous, it is SO worth it. In order to eat intuitively, we work to unlearn (and be willing to challenge) diet mentality and create new habits. These new habits are rooted in self compassion and prioritize honoring your body's needs.
There is no set timeline to this - but take refuge in the knowledge that you are no longer alone on this journey. I am here for you - every step of the way, no matter the ups and downs!
Nourish - Body and Mind is committed to providing nutrition therapy to those who cannot access care readily through insurance or private pay rates for various reasons. As a Registered Dietitian in the state of Florida, it is nearly impossible to get credentialed individually with an insurance panel (I promise - it frustrates me too!). That being said, if you feel like nutrition counseling with Nourish-Body and Mind would be a good fit for you but finances are an issue, we do offer a limited number of sliding scale and pro-bono spots.
More specifically, Nourish - Body and Mind works with Project Heal as a "partner in healing" within their HEALers Circle. Learn more about Project Heal: https://www.theprojectheal.org/our-mission

Our therapeutic relationship is important to me - and when an appointment is made, that time slot is yours entirely. It is important that both parties (you and me!) accept responsibility for honoring appointments.
As outlined in my practice policies, please remember to cancel or reschedule 24 hours in advance. You will be responsible for the entire fee if cancellation is less than 24 hours. Cancellations and re-scheduled sessions will be subject to the full session fee if not received at least 24 hours in advance of your session. This is necessary because a time commitment is made to you and is held exclusively for you.
If you are more than 15 minutes late for a session, the session will be cancelled and you will be charged the full amount of that session.
